Fill in the signature block the right way
The signature block at the end of a contract shows who is bound and in what capacity. Signing in the wrong block, or signing personally when you meant to sign for your company, causes real problems. Here's how to read and fill it in.

Completing your block
Find the block with your name or your company's name.
Find your party
Blocks are labeled — for example “Client” and “Contractor”.
Sign on the line
Your signature goes above your printed name.
Add name, title and date
Fill in every field in your block, then send it back.

Check the label above the line before you sign.
No title when signing for a company
Add your role, such as Director or Owner, so it's clear you sign on the company's behalf.
Leaving the date blank
An undated signature can cause arguments about when the contract started.
Signing as an individual
If you're a party yourself — a tenant, a freelancer without a company, a buyer — sign on the line, print your full name as written in the contract, and add the date.
Signing for a company
Company blocks often read “Company name / By: ____ / Name: ____ / Title: ____”. The “By” line is your signature; name and title show you sign as the company's representative, not personally. Only sign for a company if you're authorized to — the other side may ask for proof.
Countersigning
When the other party has already signed, you complete your block on the same document and send the fully signed version back. Don't change anything else in the document — if something needs changing, agree on it first.
